First day of Dental-Facial Cosmetic Conference at Jumeirah Beach hotel and of course, looking at the ceiling is my way to get a snap shot of anything that catches my eye 🙂
After a day of workshop, time to unwind and what else to do?
Dinner date with Chef Kevin at La Parilla- an Argentine American Restaurant at the 25th floor of Jumeirah Beach hotel with live band and Argentine dancing.
While waiting for our food we got the chance to see the spectacular skyline view of Dubai. The terrace location was excellent !

With a live band playing Argentine music, how I wish ..I practice my dance move so I can beg and pull my son to dance with me 🙂 … in my dreams.

Ladies, If ever you’re in Dubai, don’t forget to visit this place!
Yes! I’m back to Dubai to attend Facial-Cosmetic Dentistry conference at Jumeirah Beach hotel.
I arrived a day early for the conference, checked-in to City Premier Hotel Apartment, this time our room got upgraded to premier deluxe, a bigger room and a huge balcony overlooking Dubai skyline.
My Chef Kevin has been sick for two days before I arrived but he managed to be with me and even went for a dinner!
My chef Kevin
We went to Katsuya, oh yes! another Japanese food, my chef kevin definitely made my palate accustomed to Japanese cuisine, I can now savour every sushi in the table. hahaha I must admit, I’m not a great fan of sushi before!
Katsuya at Dubai Mall
We wanted to see the best view of the terrace so we waited for a while to get the seat. We went to Teavana for him to drink ginger tea for his sore throat. What a display of tea pot!
At last , we got the seat, it wasn’t the best but at least we got the view of Dubai fountain.

With a chef as a son, you can’t go wrong ordering nice dishes, I enjoyed the food as much as enjoying his company and watching Dubai fountain. Lucky me!
Good food,nice view..great company ..what a night!
B is for basbousa…no!!! B is for birthday, alright I know this post is so late, but it’s better to be late than never 🙂
You see the background? that’s where I want to celebrate my birthday …in my dreams 🙂
Anyhow, basbousa is a traditional arabic sweet made of semolina and soaked in sugar syrup. Almond and coconut is the usual mixture and I thought why not cheese? so, here’s another flavour I did on my 55th birthday . I did two version, one with the basbousa as a crust and one ,with a cream cheese as a filling. Both were delicious and heavy calories..omg!
Basbousa with cream cheese filling
Ingredients:
Basbousa:
1 cup semolina
1 cup almond meal
1/2 cup melted butter
1 can condensed milk
3/4 tsp baking powder
1 cup water
1 (300G) philadelphia cream cheese
1 cup heavy cream
Syrup:
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tbsp cornstarch and 1 cup cold water to mix
1 tbsp rose water
Direction:
Pre heat oven Gas mark#3
Combine melted butter, condensed milk and baking powder and stir well. Add semolina, almond meal and water, mix until well combined. Divide into three parts.
Meanwhile, cook the syrup ,mix all ingredients and bring it to boil until it thickens and set aside.
Mix cream cheese and heavy cream thoroughly until smooth and well combined.
Pour one part into the baking tin, add the cream cheese mixture and Pour the second part. Bake into the oven for 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into triangular shape and pour all the sweet syrup.Chill before serving, top with pistachio or almond nuts.
I used the last 3rd part of the basbousa as a crust for my cheesecake. Great idea huh! two birds in one shot?

Are you beyond fifty years of age? Is there a protocol of what to wear when you’re fifty and beyond?
Is it about you? or is it about how people perceive you? Are you afraid of humiliating your family more than yourself?
What do we consider when we want to wear something in fashion?
Have you heard how President Obama’s daughter got critiqued in Facebook because of wearing what teens wears today?
so I thought, what will happen if I, a woman of fifty-five years old wears what a 19 years old model wears during photo shoot?
will I be shoot to kill? (wink) or will people be dismayed of what I did? 🙂
huh! over thinking will kill the fun 🙂
