  • Thank YOU!

For the past weeks since I came back from Dubai, I got so busy and was not able to update or is it a case of bloggers block? Hmm or an indication that my life is so stable at the moment 🙂

But today is different… I am inspired!

    Happy…

    Ecstatic…

    So blessed

    And thankful!

My eldest son Edge the photographer is graduating with honor hurrah! He is a graduate of BS in Multi media At APC, Philippines with specialty in Photography at Santa Monica College USA.

I know you thank me many times for giving you another chance to pursue your dream but I also would like to thank YOU !

Thank you for being so resilient in all the difficulties we’ve been through. I was a young mother when I have you. You were so tiny but you gave me the “big” push and an inspiration to continue to tackle every mishap, difficulties in our life. You were only a  month old when I took my dental board exam. And you just turned a year older when I left you at the care of your grandparents. I took you back when you were six years old and barely four months in Jeddah, a school bus conductor left you all alone, wandering in the streets all by yourself and thanks God, you are so smart to find your way back home with a help from a good samaritan.I was so angry, frustrated, crying, hysterical to every person I met at the Philippines school in Jeddah and even I went to the consul and if I didn’t find you I will go to the King and beg to mobilise the whole Jeddah just to find you!

    I love you sweetheart!

I know you are a very private person and like your younger brother Kevin the Chef, drama in life is a big NO! I better make this short before I heard the word ” mom ” 🙂

Thank you for being a loving son, loving big brother and I am so proud of what you have become, a very responsible and gentlemen, I know you will be the best husband and father you would like to be! and of course the best photographer ! I pray for your good health and more power to succeed! God bless.

Best of all, thank you for being my confidante and friend. Through the years of ups and down, you never failed to amazed me of your strength and your resiliency. Together we have learned lessons in life, together we made our flaws perfect for our love, together we have crossed bridges and together with your brother we made our imperfections perfect for each other.

I also would like to give a BIG Thanks  to my parents, who is so generous, loving and caring, thank you for the inspirations and strength. Job well done!

” Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come. Remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won, and all the fears you have overcome”

    Thank you Lord.

    Congratulations!

    Cheers,

    mom

  • Nobu Hotel-City of dreams or nightmares?

    IMG_5080

I went for a very short trip to Philippines to visit my family. Aboard Malaysian airlines, I opted to travel on Business Class, 9 hours from Jeddah to Kuala Lumpor and another 3 hrs to Manila and an hour and 20 minutes to the island of Catanduanes.

My friends were skeptic about choosing Malaysian Airlines 🙂  remember the missing plane? well, I told them, it’s great! my family won’t be spending money to my funeral instead they will received a compensation for my disappearance! Kidding aside, the flight was smooth and on time!

    the chair

    The meal

And so, to make the story a bit shorter, I also choose a new and rated five-star hotel named City of Dreams – Nobu hotel, located near NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport). I booked for two adults, hoping my mom would come with me but she didn’t. At checked in I was told that the deal I got in booking.com was a honeymoon suite with free breakfast for two and a beautiful view of the pool. Hence, I am leaving early morning, the front desk officer asked.

Would you like to take a packed breakfast instead?

Yes, that would be great! but only for one (hence I’m the only one who would travel)

The room… two bed,two glasses, two slippers, two robes everything is for two! I was curious about the Casino, I was surprised , it’s full of gamers huh? What happened to poverty in Philippines? well, I answered my own question, this is only a small part of the population, the big picture is not here.

City of dreams has two more annexed hotel, namely “Crown ” and Hyatt”. It has also a luxurious brand shopping mall and an entertainment place for kids .

It also houses the famous Nobu restaurant. I had a chance to dine at Nobu Restaurant in Dubai, UAE and I enjoyed the seven course meal. But to my dismay, the breakfast buffet at Nobu restaurant in City of dreams was far from I experienced in a five-star hotels.

    My view

    The nightmare…

I was not feeling well but I slept good on my first night. As I opened the curtain the following morning, I was shocked! A maintenance man was putting all his gadget right in front of my window…OMG! I hurriedly closed the curtain, it’s good, I was dressed properly.

I took this shot, after I recovered from the shock and I told myself, I need to speak to the duty manager of the day. I should have been notified about the maintenance.

    IMG_5132

I was suffering form Laryngitis so my voice was nil  and yet I managed to relate my complaint to the duty manager and she readily apologised for the inconvenience. She sent a peace-offering to relieved the loss of my voice and hoping my annoyance will disappear

    😦

The same morning I invited my high school friend to have breakfast with me and another confusion came. I was told I only have one complimentary breakfast. What? (rolling my eyes as there was no voice coming out from my mouth).

Again, I asked for a duty manager , This is ridiculous !My room reservation is for two adults and I have two complimentary breakfast upon check in. how come I only have one? They are lucky I loss my voice otherwise , I will be fuming with words…

Anyhow, this is my city of nightmare, I was not satisfied with my stay and I will not think of coming back again.

    Nope, Thank you!

It was a cool morning and suddenly the rain poured, instead of protecting myself, I wrapped my jacket around my camera 🙂 there was no shelter to stop so we just went on. It’s about an hour of joy riding with a group of health workers. Yep! It was like a medical mission, our group consist of a surgeon, anesthesiologist, doctors and nurses 🙂

at the end of the trip, it was refreshing to find out a make shift store selling cold drinks and chips and a hammock to just sit for awhile before heading back to Virac town proper.

and what more can you ask, after having “nilagang baboy” (pork stew) as lunch 🙂 Yummy!

  • All in favour of spring say “hello”

At this time of the year, we all pretended we experienced spring in Jeddah  🙂   We’re supposed to see the flower festival in Yanbu but ended up north of Jeddah to eat grilled fish! Why? Because someone doesn’t want to drive that far!

Anyhow, instead of seeing flowers we see food (we ate SEAfood), it rhymes! HELLO!

And so my spring project started because of frustration. I started to learn how to do one stroke painting of a rose. Every time I tried, it didn’t look like a rose but certainly it looks like a flower to me and to my friends 🙂

  • Serenata – Beyond the Horizon

    2016-03-28 at 06-43-34

Once again, I have the best moment to witness the 11th season of Serenata, courtesy of Mr. Gerard Cua. This is also the first time in 29 years, my big boss and I took time out from work to watch a concert. See ? This is really the best moment 🙂  We always took turn to attend to personal matter so as not to close the clinic but tonight was different, we went together to enjoy the concert and we did!

never mind his expression in this photo 🙂 he was amazed by the performance and even took out time to take photos and records some songs

One thing though, my camera didn’t work well so I ended up taking photos by iPhone.Good thing, our seat is in the 3rd row and because I wasn’t into taking pictures, I enjoyed the show better than as a guest rather than as a photographer 🙂

    “Chua Ay”

This a cappella rendition of “Chua Ay” is spectacular, though I didn’t understand the meaning, it was so amazing to watch. I guess this is an Igorot song (a northern tribe in the Philippines). As much as I enjoyed another folk song “Paruparung Bukid”,the performance of the Knight Movers was also breathtaking!

  • Ocean Basket in Jeddah – a review

    IMG_4693

EATING is one of the common denominator we have in our group of friends. We enjoyed walking and at the same time we also enjoyed eating. Which one is more enjoyable? hmmm…I guess it’s the company that counts rather than the activities 🙂

We celebrated my friends’ 59th birthday at Ocean Basket in Khaledeyyah Business Centre at Sultan Street Jeddah. I thought it was a Chinese restaurant but after searching it from the web, I learned it’s a South African chain famous for fish and chips. We got interested and tried it last night.

The place is cozy in a relaxed atmosphere. The staffs are mostly Filipinos and very friendly.IMG_4683

Starter dish, oh I forgot to get the price list anyhow..this is good news, if you have Qitaff points from STC, this restaurant accepts and we were able to get a discount of SR 148.00. What a treat!

    IMG_4685

Main dishes …a seafood platter, a choice of either fried or grilled. Yummy and fresh! We love it!

    side dishes sushi and sashimi

Of course, they entertained us with birthday lava cake with the singing waiters at the background 🙂 …What a great way to celebrate!

after dinner, we went to have coffee and ice cream, I told you so ..WE LOVE TO EAT 🙂

    Happy Birthday 🙂 🙂 🙂

    Cheers,

    Jamilamimi

  • In blue mood

There’s nothing like being at home … and while I’m under the blue mood… I paint like i could 🙂

    So I tried on t shirt…

    on my pants…

    Stress free fabric paint 🙂

Ladies, this is a fun way to relieve stress, crazy me? Oh yeah! For me this is an activity that calmed my nerves, divert my attention and not think of things that add to my life’s stresses.

    Try it 🙂

    Cheers,

    Jamilamimi
