  • Just another day at the office “banana sex by tree”

Came to the office today expecting it to be the usual. The usual boring work i have to do. The usual boring people who are my office mates. although on occasion, the sight of one of them sleeping for most of the work hours, and the other playing games or watching tela novelas really crack me up.
After all it is supposedly an “advertising” company. Those two,no doubt can have a sitcom, and the rest of the office the supporting cast.
So around hmmm.. lets say 4pm.. I was just finishing a design up. only about the 23rd design or so. My boss in her own right is a character too. ” you don’t get what I want”. and her secretary trying to help me out ” at this point she doesn’t know what she wants, so just keep making designs. quantity over quality.” Again, this is an “advertising” company after all. So right about the time I got done, Ali ( not his real name of course.) walks and in a loud voice asks Manny (also not his name.hehe)” this banana sex by tree?” Ali asks in a loud voice.

“which one?” manny replies, apparently he has no clue what ali is talking about.

and at this point, im thinking, did i just hear that right? coz I wouldn’t know what ali would be talking about either. although, banana sex by tree… hmmm.. tree..bananas come from trees… so if banana sex by tree… incest??.
I did my best to hide my face. which by now is screaming to let out a laugh.

THIS banana sex by tree???” Ali pointing to a paper he was holding.

” ah, yes yes. sex by tree, sexy by tree this one” manny replies.

so after getting over the fact that they kept saying it that way. seriously, sex by tree. and apparently they were discussing this banana that was sex by tree. or more of arguing about it.

I knew it was an accent thing. the pronunciation and all. Ali being of middle eastern origin. and Manny, of course being a pinoy. and if u don’t get it yet. since this is an “advertising” company. what Ali was saying, was ” this banner six by three?”.

but still even though i knew what he really meant. i just couldn’t help it. really that was the only highlight today at the office. and u don’t get many of those where i work at.heheh. so i take it whenever i get it. heheh.

i thought for certain that manny would have at least said six instead of sex. but it turns out. they understood each other well.

so i guess, my day at the office wasnt all that bad. thanks to Ali and Manny.hehehe.

oh thru out this whole time, lets call him, Boy. Boy was smacking his computer. literally smacking it upside the cpu.lol. and cursn at the same time.

“taena naman toh! ba’t ayaw gumana, cra nlang lagi! putang ina!” Boy says with conviction.

i dunno kuya boy. maybe if u stop smacking it and just gently push the on button. but its ok. way to go! thats what u call. thinking outside the box! we are after all in …. an “advertising” company.

    read em and weep!

  • Ladies behind: Inihaw Kamayan Grill Resto

Inihaw Kamayan Grill House Restaurant in Balad (old town ) Jeddah, managed and partly owned by Filipino OFW. Some of the owners are my acquaintances and the ladies (gina, dong, thess, jo) behind are my friends and one of them Jo Imperial is my colleague in dental profession. She also has a talent in fruit carving.

"Ladies" of Inihaw kamayan Grill house Restaurant

My eldest son was invited to take some photos and as usual, I tag along together with my youngest son. I took some shots behind the scenes too!

This is very promising restaurant, the place can accommodate around 100 guest (maximum) and can be arranged accordingly. The foods are combination of Chinese, Filipino and Japanese dishes. Though we were not able to taste the Japanese, maybe one day, we will try it too!

Some of my favorite dishes includes: kare-kare, laing (with hot chili pls!) and sizzling sisig.

Well, you know, we can’t eat that much, we’re on diet…depends actually ..it could be full diet or balanced diet or no diet! ha ha ha ha…

Ahhhh I love the halo-halo…maybe just once a month wont hurt the diet plan!

thank you ladies! Keep up the good work!

  • A woman with a water jug :-/

    a woman with a jug

I was looking for my cheque book to pay the house rent, I came across this old picture of mine taken in Kan Zaman Restaurant 1993 ,Amman, Jordan. It’s an old farm-house converted into classical arabic restaurant.

I wonder, why i was carrying a jug on my head? Tourist curiosity? ha ha ha

Well, I went into research hmmm…and found a famous painting by J. Vermeer, “a young woman with a water jug “or lets say a pitcher in her hand.http://www.terraingallery.org/Vermeer-Woman-Jug-JJ-RJ.htm

Vermeer’s Young woman with a water jug – and WHAT MEN AND WOMEN ARE HOPING FOR MARRIAGE by Julie and Robert Jensen.

Aesthetic realism shows that the questions of marriage are aesthetic questions, answered in art.

Though we felt we needed each other, we also resented each other, because too much we used our care for each other to put the rest of the world aside. In his 1964 lecture, The Furious Aesthetics of Marriage, Eli Siegel explains:

To marry a person has been, in the history of love and marriage, the finding of a shelter against the world as unpleasant….Love, in other words, can be a means of shelter from a unkind world,…or it can be a means of intensifying, affirming, extending, subtilizing a care for the world.

Vermeer’s purpose, as he looked at this woman, was to use her as a means of “intensifying, affirming, extending, subtilizing a care for the world.”

I am not sure, if you continued reading the article but let me do my realistic (aesthetic) interpretation of my picture, whether i am an artist or not.

I think every woman carries a water jug , the JUG represents the multifunction existence of a woman.Ladies can juggle task (multi tasking), work for longer hours and yet when she comes home every one expect her to bring home dinner! She is very delicate and soft but noticed her other hand on her waist, it resemble strength and balance but how long do you think she can carry the jug?

WATER represents the flow of life.Hmmm, I wonder whether it is cold or hot? Probably when she is mad , she carries hot water! 😦  It is up to her to carry the weight or let someone carry it for her or look for someone to help her. She can carry it empty, half empty, half full or full.

yey! What i am talking about?

Ladies, would you help me out?

  • OLD AGE, I decided it’s a gift!

color of age,a different outlook in life

I am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have always wanted to be. Oh, not my body! I sometime despair over my body – the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt. And often I am taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror, but I don’t agonize over those things for long

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I’ve aged, I’ve become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself. I’ve become my own friend. I don’t chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn’t need, but looks so avante-garde on my patio. I am entitled to overeat, to be messy, to be extravagant. I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 am, and sleep until noon?  I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60’s, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love .. I will. I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the bikini set. They, too, will get old!
I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten, and I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when a beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turn gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver. I can say “no,” and mean it. I can say “yes,” and mean it
As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don’t question myself anymore. I’ve even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day
Today, I wish you a day of ordinary miracles.

I am not the author of this article, It was sent to me and I just want to share it to you all.

  • Am I annoying?…let me count the ways

Lunch at 3:30pm with my two sons, one 16 yrs old and the other is 25 yrs. old, we were discussing about how children response to their mom at certain age. At 16, “mom is annoying” and at 25, ”mom you’re right”. my eldest son commented that my youngest always gets around (kayang kaya si mama) yay! really? oh well, beauty beyond fifty can’t remember all the conversation (again!) but are moms really annoying? am I annoying?

    xoxo

hmmmm let me count 🙂 my way!

What did you say?  What? (at increasing tone of low to high note)

well, I can’t hear properly, I think I have a problem with my ears, or my understanding of your English accent. Or maybe, I have worked so long in the dental machine that my hearing are already affected. Or maybe you’re eating your words (accent wise) or maybe I just could not relate or doesn’t get the analogy. In other words, just repeat…explain and presto! I will  understand.

Clean your room! (an order or rule)

It will probably take about an hour to clean a small room but it will take only seconds to mess it up again. everything is on the floor, glasses and plates on the table, dust everywhere.. to exaggerate..its like hurricane  had just passed! Would it be nice to have a clean, neat well-organized room? ahhh what a refreshing scene after a tiring day at work.

Did you do your homework? (frowning…smiling…low or high volume)

How many minutes to finish homework? fifteen…thirty…an hour? how many minutes in FB or social network or games? sure more than an hour or two or maybe more! You have a long day, mom have a long day…at the end of the day..it is your homework, without homework grades suffers at the end, mom suffers too! got what i mean?

Prepare your bag! (a must do or rule)

Heavy bag full of books , i just can’t wait to drop and kick you at the corner, then again to check and prepare? OMG, let me just look at you for a while and stays there until the following day (I’m talking to myself with the bag) … no…no… preparing bag ahead of time is for you to check if you forgot something. After all, subjects the following day are different from today. Being ready and organized will surely make your life easy. Amen!

Did you do exercise? watch your diet, don’t eat too much! (repeated every time)

waaa! why can’t I be left alone? I’ll eat what I want, do exercise if I want…this is my body…I love the food, you can’t starve me to the rest of my life…I’m too young to die! of course, this is overstatement but if you think about it…having a balanced diet and exercise will lead to good physique and good mind which will equal to good health!

beautybeyondfifty loves to eat ice cream and chocolates and what’s the excuse? oh well, I spent two quarters of my life maintaining my figure (and brain) a little of indulgence wont hurt! 🙂 sounds familiar?

Oh no! you’re at the gym 2-3 times a week but haven’t lost any kilo, well at least I maintained it and besides, hormonal imbalance…ladies physiological changes from having the monthly period to pregnancy and to menopausal stage. right? blame it to the moon he he he he.

Writing in capital letters or using dot dot dot (….)

Your mom in FB? twitter, Skype, blog? cool…but wait… why is she writing in bold capital letters? Is she mad? She sounds like yelling (sound? what sound? I am not yelling, i am writing not talking) and whats the dot dot dot for (….) what? what do you mean?  ha ha ha ha here’s the WHAT again!(stop yelling)… dot…dot… stop!

    xoxo…xoxo…xoxo…

Well, Ladies, what do you think? Am I annoying mom?

  • LOVINGLY YOURS….

Dr. Exequiel Mariano and Dra. Emma Mariano

🙂 ♥ April 10,2011…you’re turning 88 , I have been thinking of what to write, what wishes I have not uttered for the past 52 years. What nice words I haven’t spoken. What deeds I haven’t done to express my gratitude or to undo any mistakes I have made or misfortune I may have caused.

It’s been 24 years since I left Philippines, though I come home once a year , I felt it is not enough, I am always longing for the day that I could be with you, that I can take care of you, share with you my stories, my hardship and triumph.

I wonder if you still remember when I was in grade one, one sunny afternoon, when all my classmates were heading to the river to swim with the carabao (water Buffalo) I braved the heat as well and joined the fun, removing all clothes and jump, splashing, swimming, shouting with joy! How can I not forget your big eyes and red face, your big steps rushing toward me, while I was in a hurry to put on my clothes, you’re also in a hurry to pull your belt out and pakkkk! yay! you hit me hard, I can’t even cry because I know its my fault. My teachers were scolded too, for letting me out without your permission, in returned they punished me too. I was asked to stand up for an hour in front of the class with my arms spread out. 😦

Every Christmas was full of surprises, you’re so thin and yet you became the Santa for every hospital staff’s children, every child was excited to get a gift, until one day my big brother (and me) spoiled the fun, we found the gifts you were hiding and opened the surprise, and so the news spreads… you.. as Santa Claus! 🙂

We live in remote area, where electricity is history!…brown out most of the time, and yet you make each simple day a memorable one . I enjoyed going to the farm, eating lunch under the tree, running around the muddy area, planting rice, peanuts and corn.

Every summer, I look forward to spend the holiday in the city, enjoy Chinese cuisine, ice cream and movies. I remember the old train, the smell of fuel, the noise , we have tried all kinds of transportation, sea, land and air. I like to eat balut (boiled egg with fertilized chicken embryo)peanuts, pansit (noodles) and siopao while on the road.

I love your instinct, you were the first one to have a yellow jeep and four tricycle. Your everyday outfit is awesome; my favorite is…white shoes, white pants and yellow long sleeve shirt. If hair gel was already in fashion, I bet you will be the first one to use it.For me,  you’re the most handsome father in the whole world, indeed mama is so lucky!

I remember the days when all my brothers are in their teens or early college years, you stand firmed on your rules, no smoking, no drinking, no night outs, stay out of trouble! Anyone who defies suffered the consequence and yet you were the first one to protect them when they were in trouble. “All for one and one for all”. I remember the bolo (big knife) the gun and bullets; Ferocious as a Lion when the cubs are in danger.

I love what you do, your passion in making people smile, I watched how you curve those teeth, how you pulled tooth without an “ouch” no matter how deep. Everything was an easy case for you and one day I promised myself I will be like you if not even better than you in the field of Dentistry.

But no, you discourage me,  you believe that Nursing is a better choice, a ticket to a better life outside the country.I obeyed your command, I took nursing and passed the board in speed.( I was only 20 yrs.old).

Dentistry is my world, I know its my passion, its my dream and no amount of discouragement will ever prevent me in pursuing my dream. So off I went to chase it, defiant as I am, I took Dentistry. I am sure, you remember my long letter to you that I wanted to chase my dream and I will come back … successful in my chosen field.

But once again, I failed, a few months away from my graduation, I got married. In spite of my mistakes,of broken promises, you did not turn your back, instead you help me get through with it, to be firmed in time of struggle and hardship. All those years I did not hear any bad words from you, you kept me going , I knew if you could only say the word ” i told you so” i could have heard it a million times. You have given me the greatest gift i would always remember …you believe in me.

    papa and me

You are a man of few words, a strict disciplinarian, a good provider,a pillar of strength, the best of all the best as father, I salute you Dr. E. Mariano.

Words are not enough, but allow me to  say this again and again I LOVE YOU SO MUCH PAPA, I thank God for everything specially for giving you and mama a good health always.

    ♥♥♥Happy Happy birthday!♥♥♥

  • behind the scenes…the KISS principle

Have you ever wonder what the big fuss behind the scenes?

Make-up! I am not a big fan of putting make up neither I am an expert on that nor did I go to school to learn how to do it. I can place a veneer on one tooth for thirty minutes and Walla!

    edgesuarezfoto'11
make up I used for pictorial

To apply makeup and look good in the picture is different..it took me an hour for a simple make up. I always follow the KISS (keep it super simple) principles. Especially with ladies beyond fifty, a simple dark brown eye liner, mascara and a touch of lipstick will do in most of the regular days. Evening affair, i prefer to have a little boldness, a darker eye shadow and black eyeliner, mascara and a red lips. I like people to see their enhanced beauty not the make up.

Accessories…yes! To find earrings, necklace etc. that will go with the dress is also time-consuming, unless you have a bunch in your drawers to select with, otherwise improvise is the key! Mix and match will do! A simple top shirt with a little of scarf will do a trick.

Shoes yes! shoes will do great even though your pictorial is only half body, it will position your shoulder and straighten your back.

The interview is always fun! It’s interesting to note, ladies beyond fifty still discovering things for themselves, simple questions that sometimes you are surprise how to answer it because you haven’t thought about it yet. Sometimes you learn from the questions itself rather than the answer.Try to ask yourself  too, in this way, you will appreciate the beauty within, discover how you act and will react in certain questions.

The photo shoots…i love it! the pose, the glamour, the experience of being a part of art photography, how the lighting affects the outcome of the photos is interesting! It may seem simple but the “it’ factor is undeniable. To me, photography is an art of observation, anyone can take photos but the art of doing it, the art of  taking the angle and the outcome will speaks for itself.

I am always trilled to learn something new, this keeps me going and keep my age behind. ha ha ha its like “catch me if you can!”

Believe it or not, this is taking my stress out, I am doing something that both of my sons and their friends are enjoying too (hope so:-), keeping my fingers crossed). I also enjoy the company and the art of practicing make over  he he he its make up over not smile make over.

oh well! I am on my third interview, got to make an appointment for pictorial.

    Do visit this site soon!

    Remember..KISS… (keep it super simple)

  • 10 things to Learn from Japan

It is not too late to learn …keep on learning…we can still change for the better

    1. THE CALM – not a single visual of chest- beating or wild grief.
    2. THE DIGNITY – disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.
    3. THE ABILITY– the incredible architects, for instance, buildings swayed but didn’t fall.
    4. THE GRACE – people bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something
    5. THE ORDER – no looting in shop. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.
    6. THE SACRIFICE – fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the Nuclear -reactors. How will they ever be repaid?
    7. THE TENDERNESS – restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. the strong cared for the weak.
    8. THE MEDIA – they showed magnificent restraint in bulletins. no silly reporters. Only calm reportage.
    9. THE TRAINING – the old and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. and they did just that.
    10. THE CONSCIENCE – when the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly!

I am not the author, I just want to share… Hats off to their spirit:-)

  • The F…things on beauty beyond fifty!

51…your candle cost more than the cake!

Blowing 30th candles on your day is like celebrating the end of the month. Years just passed too quick and here comes 40, pretty exciting ahhhh! Life starts at 40, isn’t it? What about the big 5’O, what is it all about? This is considered to be the milestone in one’s life, but it doesn’t mean you have to feel old.; age is more of a state of mind!

    Oh yeah! State of mind….joke!

Let me try…Here are the F…..(FUNNY) things ha ha ha ha… I bet you’re thinking the other meaning of “F”!!!

Here are some funny things that will certified you’re fifty and beyond:
    – you got two candles that represent the number of your age. You know you’re getting old when the candles are more expensive than the cake.

    – when some one greeted you with due respect and added “po” at the end of every sentence.. It’s either it shows on your face or this someone is very respectful of the seniors lol!

    – when ask about age; you just say the end ” ty one,..ty..two”

    – you’re still hot, it’s just that it comes in hot flashes

    – you see the line of wisdom…meaning there’s nothing left to learn the hard way

    – you can live without s*x but not without glasses

    – no matter how little you eat, you can’t fit in size 10..it just keep growing…your thigh and hips..who cares about metabolism?

    – you feel humps everywhere esp. in the middle and you curse the inventor of the low waist jeans

    – at the end you quit holding your stomach in, no matter who walks into the room

    – you can remember faces but not the names

    – you keep coming to the room and keep forgetting why you’re there in the first place.

    – you smile and nod but doesn’t get most of the stories, the good thing, your secret is safe because you’re friends can’t remember it either. Ha ha ha ha!

    And here’s some funny quotes:

“Inside every older person is a younger person – wondering what the hell happened!”

Middle Age: Later than you think, and sooner than you expected.

Look at the bright side: ten years ago ,today you just turned forty!

    Have a good day ladies!
